The Mission Nicaragua team is back from Nicaragua. In every place they visited, there was an opportunity to bless children with the flip flops donated for Project 22 :: The Children of La Chureca. They held various camps around Nicaragua. The best way to describe the camps is that they are an experience like our kids going to Disney for a week, but more like vacation bible school here. They take the children to camp, feed them like they have never been fed, minister to them, and then play and create with them.
I know for certain that the flip flops are a gift that has brightened their little hearts. These kids are so sweet and so innocent, but trapped in deplorable living conditions.
Thank you all so much for blessing these children. The community of Wildwood Church thanks you from the bottom of their hearts. If you would like to read about their day by day account, click here.
The left over flip flops were left with a missionary family from Tallahassee. They host the different teams into their compound when they come to do mission work. This family has taken in many street children, some with handicaps, and actually tried to adopt them, but the government says no. So they are just raising them anyway... they were tossed away at 3, 4, 5 years old. Like trash.
The flip flops will continue to be distributed to multiple locations in Nicaragua: Casa Havilah (the girls' rescue home), Casa Robles (the boys' rescue home), Club Esperanza (the new ministry center for the children of La Chureca), and at Ruby Ranch (serving the children of Las Parcelas).
Can you imagine the look on a child's face, that lives in a hut, when they get something so pretty?
Thank you, Craft Hope community, for being the most selfless, caring, giving individuals I know. You left a piece of yourself in Nicaragua and I hope you truly understand the HOPE and LOVE you gave these kids.
You are such a blessing.
